Eureka Springs Into Music Festival brings classical music to NW Arkansas with an emphasis on student involvement. The event begins on Tuesday, March 15 at Thorncrown Chapel with a concert featuring Sara Sant’Ambrosio and students from the Arkansas Philharmonic and Youth Orchestra.
Eureka Springs City Auditorium will play home for the second evening of the Eureka Springs Into Music Festival with The Eroica Trio taking the stage, along with a number of professional musicians from the region, as well as the winner of the Youth YouTube competition.
The Youth YouTube competition involved school age children uploading their own musical performance video to YouTube for the Eureka Springs Into Music Festival judges to hear. Winners will then be chosen from among the entrants and those winners will then have the opportunity to how rehearsals and performances work in the “real” world by joining in the performances at The Auditorium during the Eureka Springs Into Music Festival! The deadline for the videos was January 25th, 2016.
The Eureka Springs Into Music Festival was first conceived of by Sara Sant’Ambrogio, cellist for the world-famous Eroica Trio, after the trio performed for a standing room only crowd in Eureka Springs. Sara Sant’Ambrogio feels there should be no artificial barriers between different types of music–or audiences. To her, it’s all music and about translating our human condition and emotions through the music.
A big part of the week-long Eureka Springs Into Music Festival involves outreach to local students. Professional musicians will be visiting area schools throughout the region for “informances:” class length presentations and workshops of music and story geared toward exciting students about music and helping them to relate music to their own lives.
The Eroica Trio is pianist Erika Nickrenz, violinist Sara Parkins, and cellist Sara Sant’Ambrogio. Considered the most sought after trio in the world, the Grammy nominated Eroica Trio entrances audiences with a combination of technical virtuosity, palpable enthusiasm, and a sensual elegance not often encountered on the classical music stage.
