It’s up, up and away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, when the 33rd annual “Art with an Altitude” Kite Fest takes flight at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge! This beloved event, co-hosted by KaleidoKites, offers a day of family-friendly fun amidst the scenic beauty of the Ozarks.
Kite flying is equal parts exciting and relaxing. It’s also a rare treat in today’s hyper-fast, computer generated, smart-phone distracted, 24 hour news-cycle world. This free event is your opportunity to ignore it all and fly a kite. You can also just lie back and watch as the many, multicolored and shaped kites of the festival dance in the bright blue, spring sky.
Even better, 5 Ojo, our Eureka Springs Bed & Breakfast, is only 15 minutes scenic drive from Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge!
“Art with an Altitude” Kite Fest 2025
March 22, 2025 at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, Hwy. 23 South, Eureka Springs, AR.
The annual Eureka Springs Kite Festival is great fun for all, with attendees encouraged to fly their own kites at the event. You say you don’t have a kite? No problem! The festival provides opportunities to buy or even build your own kite. What fun!
Kite Fest 2025 also includes craft vendors, food trucks, goodie bags, raffles, and more. Why, even Strike, mascot of the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, makes a special appearance around noon! Avery Waltz: United We Rock will be on hand, providing classic rock tunes for the event’s soundtrack.
Best of all, proceeds from the event benefit Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge and their rescued animals – which you can visit during Kite Fest!
Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge
Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge (TCWR) is a haven for rescued big cats and other exotic animals. Founded in 1992, this non-profit sanctuary provides a forever home to abused, neglected, and abandoned animals. They also work to educate the public and advocate for wildlife conservation.
Turpentine Creek is home to over 100 animals, including tigers, lions, leopards, cougars, bobcats, bears, and others. Many come from private ownership situations where they were kept as pets or roadside attractions. Others are rescued from circuses or breeding operations. TCWR offers them large, natural habitats where they can live out their lives in comfort and safety.
Visitors to the refuge can see these magnificent animals up close while learning about their stories. Guided walking and trolley tours provide insights into the animals’ backgrounds and the dangers of wildlife exploitation. Informative keeper talks and feeding demonstrations further enrich the experience.
Turpentine Creek actively advocates for stronger wildlife protection laws. They also work to end the private ownership of exotic animals. The refuge is open year-round and is a perfect destination for animal lovers, families, and conservation enthusiasts.
