Summer is right around the corner and with it comes “Enchanted Evenings,” Opera in the Ozarks 2024 season! This year’s schedule includes La Traviata, The Crucible, Beauty and The Beast, 2 Broadway cabarets, and more! June 21 – July 19, 2024.
Opera and theater fans visiting the Eureka Springs area will not want to miss an Opera in the Ozarks (OIO) performance. Opera in the Ozarks began as a simple summer music camp in 1950. Over the years, however, it gained prominence, slowly evolving into an important program for those interested in theater careers.
The intensive, eight-week summer program provides professional theater training to a select group of students every year. Though a program for students, OIO’s productions are professional scale operas with full sets, period costumes, and a full orchestra. Many OIO alumni continue on to successful, high-profile careers on stage. This means you may very well see one or more rising stars at an Opera in the Ozarks performance. Exciting!
OIO’s location at Inspiration Point is another reason to attend – or at least visit! Inspiration Point, at the top of Rock Candy Mountain, is home to expansive views of the White River valley below. Further, the main building at Inspiration Point, built in the late 1920’s by German-born architectural engineer Charles Mowers, was patterned after the castles of the Rhine River valley and is truly a sight to behold.
Perhaps best of all, this stunning locale is just 10 minutes from our Eureka Springs bed and breakfast, 5 Ojo!
