Eureka Springs Christmas 2014

The holidays have arrived and the Ozarks are abuzz with the joy and cheer of the season – there is just so much to do and see during Eureka Springs Christmas 2014!

If you can’t live here, Eureka Springs is a great place to visit. A thriving arts community with a lively history, located in the Ozarks of Northwest Arkansas, there is always something happening here – shows, festivals, events – and holidays are no exception!

A Eureka Springs Christmas means good cheer and beautiful decorations around town. There are lots of sales in the shops and galleries, making it easier to find that one-of-a-kind item for the special folks on your list, plus there are a number of great, seasonal events brewing. Here’s a short list of some of the things to do and see in town this time of year:

Snow Train Village
The largest, privately owned Snow Train Village in the United States is on on display, now, at the Eureka Springs Historical Museum, November 15th through December 23rd. Over 300 miniature buildings, four different trains, and a trolley will transport you to a distant and literal, small-town, American Christmas landscape. Details and hours dor the Snow Train Village can be found at: www.eurekaspringshistoricalmuseum.org

Eureka Springs Christmas Forest
At one of the highest points of the Arkansas Ozarks resides the 1886 Crescent Hotel: a historic mountaintop resort whose formal garden fills with more than 30 brightly decorated and glittering Christmas trees each year – the Eureka Springs Christmas Forest. Decorated by local charities, each tree receives votes and donations throughout the month, with the top three trees receiving additional donations at the close of the display. The lighting ceremony for the Eureka Springs Christmas Forest is Dec 6th at 6pm and the forest will remain open for free tours until January 2nd, 2015.

The Eureka Springs Christmas Parade
The annual Eureka Springs Christmas Parade is a seasonal favorite for both locals and visitors. This year’s Grand Marshal is the recently crowned Miss Arkansas who will preside over this year’s parade, scheduled for December 5th, between 6 and 7pm. An evening parade, expect lots of brightly lit floats, walkers, and bands ringing in the season through downtown Eureka Springs.

Eureka Springs Sweet Treats Cookie Tour
The 7th annual Eureka Springs Sweet Treats Cookie Tour gives you the opportunity to tour eight beautifully decorated, Eureka Springs bed and breakfasts. Sample and take home recipes for homemade holiday treats at each home and win a chance for $100 gift certificate towards a stay at one of the B&B’s. There are many more seasonal events scheduled, such as the John Two-Hawks 10th Annual Christmas Concert on December 6th, 7pm at the Aud and The Ozarks Chorale Christmas Concert on the 13th at the same venue, so don’t hesitate.
