For more than 30 years, now the annual Christmas Tour of Homes has been kicking off the holiday season in Eureka Springs, AR. Who wouldn’t relish the opportunity to view these beautiful, historic homes so festively bedecked for the holidays? These graceful Victorian homes are already worthy of your attention but once they’ve been gussied up for the holidays? Oh, my!
The annual Christmas Tour of Homes celebrates one the country’s largest historical districts. This year’s tour includes 9 of Eureka Springs’ Victorian homes. Each stop along the self-guided home tour includes a Victorian attired docent. They’ll relate the home’s history, holiday traditions of the Victorian era, and answer any questions you may have.
Elegant ladies and dapper gentlemen dressed in period finery walk along the tour routes with Victorian era bands and carolers rounding out the scene. There will also be refreshments available at each home. You’ll feel as if you’ve stepped backwards through the veil of time to a distant Christmas past – sans Dickens’ ghosts, of course!
The 2017 Eureka Springs Christmas Tour of Homes takes between 1 and 2 hours to complete. Attendees should prepare to be on foot for the tour and ready to mount numerous staircases. Wear sensible shoes so you can focus on the tour and enjoy yourself.
Parking can be a bear but a trolley helps by circulating along Main Street for the various tour locations. The trolley fee is included with your ticket for rides between tour homes, during the tour.
