Carving in the Ozarks 2016

March 11th, 2016 by Corey A. Edwards

Carving in the Ozarks 2016Let the chips fall where they may: it’s the 12th annual Carving in the Ozarks, Eureka Springs’ Chainsaw Carving Festival, April 15th and 16th, 2016!

It’s hard to think of a chainsaw as anything other than a tool to roughly cut down, then hack apart trees into manageable logs – but the fact of the matter is, a chainsaw, in the right hands, can be as fine a tool as a sculptor’s chisel. A fact you’ll be able to see up close and personal at the 2016 Carving in the Ozarks, Eureka Springs’ Chainsaw Carving Festival.

An annual event for 12 years, Carving in the Ozarks is a premier, two-day, chainsaw carving event, put on by the Eureka Springs Volunteer Fire Dept, that attracts 25 or more chainsaw carving artisans and enthusiasts from around the Untied States every year. Talented artists in their own right, many of whom make a living off their work.

And you’ll be there to watch as these talented men and women pull forms of pure grace and beauty from otherwise unremarkable logs and stumps in a spray of wood chips. More than just mushrooms, trolls, and standing bears, you’ll see artistic and delicate figures, forms, and shapes you never thought the buzzing roar of a chainsaw could so delicately bring into existence.

Carving in the Ozarks 2016Better yet, all of the sculptures created at Carving in the Ozarks will be put up for auction near the end of the festival: Saturday, March 16th, at 4pm. Proceeds from the Carving in the Ozarks will be donated to local charities, so you can feel extra-good about your purchase! Bidders will also be entered into a chance to win one of the carvings!
